Life Lessons from Bhagavad Gita Introduction: Many people who studied  Bhagavad-Gita  say that it changed their life. They quit many bad habits, and they hence push themselves towards some positive habits. Gradually, as a result of studying  Bhagavad-Gita , they become elevated. Many people who read this religious book, by the way, it is not meant for only Hindus. The people of different religions and regions can read this because Gita is for everyone. Understanding that Gita is not a religious Book: Lord Krishna taking chariot between the two armies on request of Arjuna Many people who read this religious book, by the way, it is not meant for only Hindus. The people of different religions and regions can read this because Gita is for everyone. When Lord Krishna sang the Gita to Arjuna, He didn’t tell that this Gita is exclusively for you, my dear Arjuna. But, the Gita has spoken between the two armies of the war. So, that all people who are fighting the conflict can be g...

The Core of Math Anxiety: Mathematics is Abstract and Our Purpose for Learning it is Concrete Think of the moment when kids understand that fingers —  not just their fingers  — is a way to count.  T hink also when they count two for legs on a chicken and also time passage in terms of days. There is a ton of abstraction that we all fall into right from the beginning. The abstraction leap from something like three fingers to the number “3” might be one of the biggest that we rarely acknowledge to the time that it deserves. The proof of that is that a common refrain in math education is “when are students going to stop using their fingers for counting?” My response is “hopefully never”, meaning that there is something unresolved with students that needs attention and time to. The pandemic regrettably proved that education has no interest/idea in shifting the historic purpose of mathematics — practice, perform, and practicality — into something more aligned to the abstract or...

Neural Network As mentioned in my previous blog Artificial Intelligence is the super set to Machine Learning which further is the super set to Deep Learning. Deep Learning is concerned with algorithms inspired by the structure and function of Human Brain. So, now lets dive deep into this field and try to understand how this works and what actually this powerful algorithm is. What is Neural Networks? It is a series of algorithms that works   to recognize underlying relationships in the given set of data through process that mimics the way a Human Brain operates. Now if we actually discuss in Human Brain analogy, then this refers to neurons, either organic or artificial in nature. These help us to cluster and classify the given data. As previously mentioned that this algorithm is purely inspired by the working of our Human Brain, our Brain works with the help of a series or an networks called neurons. For example, suddenly a cat or a dog comes to you, how will you predict which anima...

'Mens’conception

Image
'Mens’conception 75% of depression reported cases are from men. 5/6 suicides committed are by men. Tags/assumptions of carrying the family forward financially. Let’s talk about something we seldom shed light on. Generations have passed by, and yet men are suppressed under the limiting norms of society on the basis of which they define masculinity. Image credit: unsplash.com The term ‘man up’ wildly circulated and preached about holds the dictionary meaning ‘to act tough’. Isn’t that what the society expects men to be molded into? Being ‘tough’, thereby restraining them from being their true selves. They are detained from the liberties of emotion and expression. Their vulnerability is a joke which carries heavy labels of ‘unmanly’ and ‘weak’. The slogans “Men don’t cry!”, going about have exacerbated their mental health as a result of which, they’ve been held back from being vocal about the concerns they undergo. In today’s age where we see a commendable outrage on issues pertaini...

Well, spoiler alert though, this read may just spill some of those beans. So do delve into it and keep yourself hanging in there till the end to know why it really is in the best interest for you to squeeze-in that break-a-sweat session into your busy day… Honestly, what could be a better time for me to draft this blog and for you to be reading it than this pandemic struck situation the world is suffering where everyone is limited to the 4 walls of their homes. Why do I say so? Because — A) you’re at home majority of the time, B) studies show that the rates of self-esteem issues & anxiety attacks have relatively sky-rocketed over this period, and C) you really don’t need to be anywhere else but at h...

Time to make the unconscious concious

Image
Time to make the unconscious conscious Just a few months ago, who could have predicted that the world would be staring down the barrel of a spiraling health predicament and economic crisis unlike any witnessed in an eternity? Now, in a society gripped by the terror of a foraying virus, mental health is emerging as a pressing concern. Image credit: pixabay.com The Coronavirus pandemic has made people conscious about innumerable factors that they have been overlooking in their normal lives before this virus showed up. People have always been occupied with their work, be it their jobs, education, families, and what not! This virus has made us aware of the numerous things that we wouldn’t have noticed earlier. Over the years we’ve been ignorant of our health and mental well-being because we were so busy and pre-occupied by the workload and daily commitments. Stress, anxiety, deadlines, depression, etc. have always overpowered our lives without us actually rejoicing in the evanescence of li...

Freedom

Image
FREEDOM. What if I say you are reading this not by your will? what if I say whatever you have been doing since your birth till now might be predetermined? No, I am not talking about fate and all that religious stuff. There is this concept in physics called  causality . Causality is the influence by which one event, process, state, or object contributes to the production of another event, process, state, or object. which in simple terms can be said that for one event to happen there must be an event that must have caused it. Any a n d every decision you make in real life are completely based on your thought. Now comes the interesting part, are we even responsible for our thoughts. If yes that means we have thought the thought before we actually had that thought. If you have no control over what thoughts you will get, where is free will? let me tell you something interesting about ants. When ants are infected by a type of fungus called  Ophiocordyceps unilateralis They are no lo...

Identity

Image
Identity. We often wonder “who am I?” This is one of my favorite topics to explore. Let me begin by asking you something interesting. Theseus (a man) had a ship. As the ship needed repair, it was replaced part by part, up to a point where not a single part of the original ship remained in it, anymore. Is it, then, still the same ship? If all the discarded parts were used to build another ship, which of the two, if either, is the real Ship of Theseus? That’s a clas s ic philosophical paradox of identity. Would you still be you if all the organs in your body get replaced? If yes, then what are we if not a collection of organs working together in complete harmony. What is that something that stays the same even if we replace all the organs? Let me confuse a little more, There are 10 times more microorganisms than cells in our body. We often assume we are this monolithic entity, but we are an ecosystem. So when I say “I” does that refer to the whole ecosystem or something else? Is whole eq...

Purpose

Image
Purpose. Imagine you started playing a new just-released game. What is one of the few questions that pop into your mind? I don’t know about you, but I would ask at some point, what is the objective of the game. And this is one of the basic questions we humans about their existence too. What are they here for? What is “the purpose of my life?” A lot of people say you do have a p u rpose go discover it. And a lot of religious crap (sorry). A few other people may say the purpose of life is to find “happiness” so on and so forth.  ( I think happiness is a scam will write about it soon  😂 ) Here is what I think. We are just another species living on a small rock in the infinite vast space filled with trillion other rocks and a million galaxies we are basically inconsequential. We are just any other animal. The purpose of any animal to survive and reproduce. That is it nothing more, nothing less. So I think we have the same basic objectives in this game of life. We, as a whole spec...

5G Boon or Bane

5G: BOON OR BANE When the 5th Generation of mobile communication and networking was introduced in early 2020, it grabbed a lot of attention. With 5G, augmented reality can be made possible in real-time. Remotely operated robotic surgeons can be used for healthcare in areas where good healthcare can’t be provided. Search and rescue missions can be carried out by swarms of drones combing the disaster-prone area. 5G can bring speed of around 10 Gigabits per second to your phone. This is more than 600 times the typical 4G speed. This means that you can download games from Steam in under 20 seconds and a 4K movie in 25 seconds. But the catch is that 5G networks will have very less network coverage. This is because of the high-frequency waves 5G networks will be using. The lack of range can be considered as a trade-off for the very high download speed the network can offer. 5G networks when brought into the mainstream would require a network tower every  500 meters.  In contrast, a ...

Are All men Trash

Are All Men are Trash ???? Often you might have heard this phrase but if haven’t you’re lucky because what usually follows this phrase is an unending argument ‘not all men’.My opinion on this matter is reserved between the gray area of ‘yes’ and ‘no’,therefore I request you to read this article through a naked mind. Disown all your presumptions and read the following piece as a five year old ,curious as to what a teacher is talking about.Through this article I wouldn’t give my opinion rather I will present you with facts and request you to introspect. Coming back , “All men are Trash”, what’s the first thought in your mind when you hear this phrase ?I assume some of you might feel angry, some of you might agree wholeheartedly to this opinion, and some might think this a first world problem.Whatever your opinion might be, I often wondered the cause and the accuracy of this phrase. If you count the number of violent crimes that have been done against women in our society ,y...

The Positive Impact of COVID-19

Image
The Positive Impact of COVID-19 Nature is relaxing   Despite the coronavirus threatening the world, it has some positive sides too. As the Covid-19 pandemic continues its blow, one can witness dramatic changes in people’s lives. And it already overshadowed other medical problems. Doctors and researchers notice unexpectedly positive side effects of the abrupt shifts in human behaviors in response to the pandemic. Moreover, prolonged lockdown is relieving nature with a reduction in human activities. Skies are bluer, the crime rates are lower. Due to the lockdown, the pollution level fell dramatically and is still heading down. Nitrogen dioxide (NO2) is a toxic gas liberated from buses, cars, factories, etc. According to WHO, NO2 causes significant inflammation of the airways (lungs and trachea) at concentrations above 200 micrograms/m3. Now, vehicles and factories are under shutdown which results in the decrement of NO2 concentrations. Polluted cities like Chennai, Delhi, Bhilai...
